E-Coating - the use of cathodic electropaint system to coatmetal. The process is similar to powdercoating, but e-coating uses a liquid.
Electrophorectic Coating (E-Coating) is a general term describing the application of organic coatings(lacquers) to metallic substrates through the use of elctric currents. The coating can be clear or colored, translucent or opaque, and has uniform thickness over the part, typically 20 microns. Typicaly time required to apply the coat is 45-90 seconds. On exiting the coating tank, the product is rinsed, air dried and oven cured. All excess coating removed in the rinse process is filtered back to the coating tank, making e-coating waste free and environmentally friendly.
